The development of complex systems like a gas turbine requires a digital engineering approach. This webinar outlines a framework and digital tools to enable engineers to estimate the dynamic performance of a high bypass turbofan engine at concept stage.
It covers various aspects of an MBSE approach from the development of the system architecture model (SAM), starting from the performance and emissions requirements. A functional decomposition of the model is carried out and the functions are allocated to different physical forms of the turbofan engine.
Behavior and parametric models are created to analyze the system configuration performance in terms of the specific trust (Ts), thrust-specific fuel consumption (TSFC), and emission characteristics for different sets of operating parameters based on different flight conditions. The predictions from the model compare very well with the test data available in the open literature
