Reduced Order Model
Simulations can be challenging and time-consuming; changing any aspects of the design can greatly increase these challenges. By creating a reduced-order model (ROM), changes can be made and analyzed in real-time simulations, decreasing simulation time by orders of magnitude.
ROMs have several features that can help engineers and designers in many ways, including:
- Ease of use for non-traditional users
- Ability to run real-time simulations
- Model storage size reduction
- Efficient modeling of large system simulations
Below is a post-processing simulation comparison of CFD and ROM results on a 16-cell battery pack. The CFD thermal simulation took 6 CPUs and a 5-hour run time, while the ROM took 1 CPU and a 30-minute run time.
