Faster Simulations with HPC/GPU

With new enhancements to HPC/GPU, Speos increases simulation performance through GPU acceleration deployed on a cluster. We support multi-GPU, multi-node deployment with accurate simulation, including dynamic camera effect.

Dynamic Effects in Camera Simulation Enhancements

Dynamic effects in-camera simulation are fully compatible with GPU Compute, including v2.0 distortion files and Dynamic parameters (integration, lag time) support. Camera simulations inherit GPU’s better convergence when propagating light in diffuse ambient materials.

Speos R2 2022 release enables a stronger link with CAD data thanks to a bi-directional link easing the workflow for the end-user by shortening the design iteration cycle. Users can now modify parameters in the Speos UI, and the parameter updates will automatically occur in CAD and to the design in Speos, keeping all links to Speos features.

It was always difficult to verbally explain how much more the vehicle can improve but visualizing it with Ansys Speos easily convinces the designer.

The making of the all-new MAZDA3 required a fresh way to judge illumination recommendations and perform analysis. This involved evaluating actual light illumination early in the development cycle, leading Mazda to Ansys Speos. With Speos, Mazda reduced, on average, the number of $95,000 vehicle prototypes per project by three, all while finding a more optimal interior design. 

The Speos solution helped Mazda accurately analyze — in a single simulation — light amount and wavelength, accurately analyze reflective properties and reproduce and quantify luminance distribution in two dimensions, allowing Mazda to perform simulations without sacrificing accuracy. By incorporating Speos, Mazda has a better end product and is more involved in detailed design choices earlier in the process. Mazda engineers can optimize features for mass production, saving time and money, and can work with suppliers via Speos simulations to determine exact specifications for a more efficient development process.

Get an in-depth understanding of how light works in your systems by modeling, simulating and optimizing the luminous flux in any future system or product. You can now accurately predict stray light, hot spots and uniformity to ensure your system’s performance, evaluate illuminance and luminous intensity in the visible light range. 

Simply perform physically correct colorimetry and photometry measurements and studies to validate your choice of materials and light sources, ensuring your system matches design requirements. You can also check the compliance of your systems with industry or legal standards with a click. 

Simulate visual predictions based on physiological human vision modeling, improve visual perceived quality by optimizing colors, contrasts, harmony, light uniformity and intensity, and take into account ambient lighting conditions, including day and night vision. Speos gives you 3D virtual reality models for a fully immersive experience.

With Speos Live preview’s simulation and rendering capabilities, engineers can design products interactively — further speeding up development.

The optical design optimizer helps you to easily bridge the gap between optics and CAD so you can create any type of optical component, including lighting system lamps, switches, displays and luminaries; then use them directly in your CAD software. Assess the optical performance of your system and benefit from integrated tools for the optimization of your optomechanical system. You can also process tolerance studies to elevate the performance of your systems.  

Use these for a light guide or pillow optics for reflective and refractive parts. Design the best beam sharp cutoff reflector shape and model manufacturing constraints like drafting and milling. Optical part design delivers unique geometrical modelling capabilities so you can automatically create geometries with several dozen construction elements in just one click. The software also allows you to build a surface to collimate light rays that are impossible to create without approximations. Optical part design will increase your productivity and shorten your engineering development time, all while accelerating convergence on style. 

The optical sensor test provides a built-in environment for quickly evaluating the impact of the different design versions on the sensor perception, all at an early design stage. Starting from a digital mock-up—including surrounding geometries, sensor layout, and surrounding targets—physically model lidar, ultrasonic, and camera systems. The data acquired by your sensor system is integrated into the CAD platform and considers characteristics and constraints. Perform complete analyses for different sensor configurations on various scenarios in about 15 minutes without requiring manual operations. Use your results to determine the expected performance of a specific sensor supplier.

The importer makes it possible to import any native Zemax OpticStudio® or any Speos-generated optical system into Speos in the form of a black box. It contains the optical data necessary to perform analyses while protecting the imported system’s intellectual property (IP). The lens importer guarantees a unique continuity throughout the development of imaging systems, and the optical systems’ data can be imported into camera sensors in Ansys VRXPERIENCE for interactive testing and validation.

Ansys LightField helps to facilitate the storage and sharing of pre-computed intermediate simulation results for sub-structures within an optical system. Improve simulation time and allow for black-box sharing between suppliers and their customers for improved performance and IP protection.

Automatic tools help design the optical system and improve perceived quality of the image by optimizing layout and shapes, generating a rotation axis, calculating angles for multiple drivers’ sizes and automatically displaying required optical volume. Objectively qualify the image quality and compare several technical options, scoring the optical and vision performance. You can check the compliance against your own acceptance criteria and create a complete simulation of the driver’s perception.

Far infrared extension provides unique capabilities dedicated to designing and analyzing vision, as well as detection systems used in the defense industry. Simply simulate and optimize visible, near and far infrared systems for wavelength beyond 2000 nm for active and passive detection. Automatically calculate and understand the efficiency of your optical system using dedicated tools for illuminance, luminance and intensity measurements. Visualize your field of view with pixel grids projected on the 3D environment to determine detection capabilities and to process simulated camera acquisition with image processing, enabling optical designers and embedded software developers to collaborate on digital mockups.

The connection between Ansys Speos and Ansys Cloud accelerates optical simulation time to get your results up to 60X faster. The Ansys Cloud connection helps you combine your optical simulations with other Ansys simulation solutions including Ansys Mechanical, Ansys Fluent and Ansys optiSLang to deliver streamlined and comprehensive results.
