WHITE PAPER
Low-voltage Circuit Breaker Analysis and Design using Transient-transient Co-simulation Ansys Icepak-Ansys Mechanical Software
In this white paper, the authors describe the settings and results of a transient–transient co-simulation using Ansys Icepak® software and Ansys Mechanical™ software for analyzing the performance of a new generation of low-voltage circuit breakers. Rockwell engineers implemented the complete simulation with the help of Ansys support experts (thermal, electrical, and structural). Complete transient-transient thermal-structural co-simulation was realized through considering big deformations on the Mechanical side. This innovative workflow provided valuable insights related to circuit breaker design, enabling Rockwell to better understand the thermal trip situation of the device and therefore implement needed modifications to improve performance.
