How to Use Materials Characterization to Generate Accurate FEA Models

One of the most important objectives of any engineering simulation is to establish a close relationship between physical tests and simulated results. In order to achieve accurate simulations, it's necessary to use input parameters that accurately reflect the physical systems being modeled.

This webinar will discuss how physical testing and materials characterization can generate  high-fidelity FEA models ready for simulation analysis. Materials characterization is especially useful for capturing accurate inputs for complex electronics applications, including  solder fatigue, viscoelastic polymers, thermal properties of PCB stackups, collision dynamics of ferromagnetic materials and more.

Using material characterization, engineers can have more confidence that their simulation analysis will closely match physical test results.

What you will learn

  • How to determine the most critical material inputs needed for your simulation
  • The best physical tests to obtain accurate material, property, and part information
  • How the Ansys Reliability Engineering Services (RES) team performed material characterization for a customer to improve their simulation accuracy
