Ansys Simpleware Medical software 2026 R1 is here, delivering powerful new artificial intelligence (AI)-driven segmentation alongside enhanced modeling capabilities. From new aorta CT auto segmentation and upgraded spine CT algorithms to a new Mirror tool for rapid anatomical mapping and expanded Surface Library tool, this release brings significant improvements to accelerate patient-specific modeling and simulation.

Highlights

New Mirror Tool for Masks and Surface Objects

A streamlined tool that mirrors masks or surface objects using an interactively defined plane with optional rotation and translation controls.

New Aorta CT Segmentation and Landmarking

One-click segmentation of the descending aorta from CT scans, complete with automatic detection of key landmarks at branching locations.

Expanded 3D PDF Export Supporting More Objects

3D PDF export now includes additional object types such as measurements, annotations, and shapes for enhanced communication.

Improved FE and CFD Meshing for Thin Regions

Increased control over internal volume mesh growth relative to the surface mesh, enabling more reliable meshing in thin anatomical areas.

Additional Updates

Auto segmentation

  • Inference speed improvements (2-3x),average speed up varies with data, AI model, and hardware.
  • New automated report generation for heart CT and Valve Analysis tools.
  • Improved vertebrae splitting in spine CT for more reliable segmentation.

Other tools

  • Scripting API: New observer functionality to report all questions and warnings.
  • X-ray import: DICOM tags can now be stored from imported X-ray images.
  • Surface tools: Enhancements to the Surface Library, including API access and CSV validity checking.
  • Finite element (FE) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) meshing: Volume mesh storage in Project Files, including node and surface sets.
  • Simpleware Medical software clearance: Coverage extended to Japan and Australia.
