Overview

Ansys Discovery 2026 R1 introduces focused updates that enhance upfront simulation workflows, with an emphasis on meshing improvements, model preparation, and connectivity across the Ansys ecosystem. This release is designed to support earlier and more consistent evaluation of thermal, fluid, and structural behavior during design exploration.

Key updates include fluids meshing enhancements such as sharp edge capture, thin structure capture, and fluid virtual walls, which improve how complex flow paths, thin regions, and interfaces are represented in simulation models. Geometry detection enhancements help identify features such as sharp angles and small parts to support more efficient model organization prior to simulation.

Ansys Discovery 2026 R1 also extends workflow continuity within the Ansys portfolio, enabling models and results to be carried forward into tools such as AEDT Icepak and Ansys Mechanical when additional analysis detail is required. Alongside these updates, new capabilities such as CHT with Joule Heating and sensitivity analysis expand the range of early-stage studies that can be performed directly within Discovery.

What Attendees Will Learn

  • New fluids meshing capabilities, including sharp edge and thin structure capture, for improved representation of complex flow and thermal regions
  • The use of fluid virtual walls to model thermal behavior between fluid regions without explicitly modeling thin solid walls
  • Geometry detection enhancements that support more efficient model preparation prior to simulation
  • The role of Ansys Discovery within the broader Ansys ecosystem, including continuity to AEDT Icepak and Ansys Mechanical when additional analysis detail is required
  • The application of sensitivity analysis and optimization to evaluate design trade-offs early in the design process
