Implementation in the ANSYS Finite Element Code of the Electric Vector Potential T-Ω,Ω Formulation

A novel formulation (the T-Ω,Ω) has been implemented in the finite element code ANSYS. With respect to the ANSYS A-V,A formulation the Τ−Ω,Ω formulation allows a reduction of the degrees of freedom from three to one in the non-conductive regions allowing to save CPU time and memory space for the solution. The implemented formulation has been applied to the FELIX brick bench-mark problem from the International Workshops for the comparison of eddy current codes. The solution is also compared with the results from the A-V,A formulation in ANSYS. Results obtained with the new Τ−Ω,Ω formulation are in very good agreement with those from other codes.
