Electromagnetic Safety in Wireless Communications and Bio-Medical Technologies

In wireless-communication and in bio-medical technologies, no device can be brought to market without proof that it satisfies safety standards related to Specific Absorption Ratio (SAR). SAR is a measure for the electromagnetic power density absorbed by the human body and resulting locally in an increase in temperature. In the case of hand-held communication devices such as cellular phones, the concern is often about power density absorbed by the brain, the most critical and temperature-sensitive organ in the body.
