Ansys Employee Spotlights

Sujata Bandyopadhyay

I grow with our customers

How I’d Explain My Job to a Kindergartener

If I drop my cell phone accidentally, will it crack or not? If we wanted to find out, we could drop the cell phone or we could use a computer simulation program to learn when and how the cell phone will crack. At Ansys, we help companies build better products so customers can use them for longer periods of time.

My Career Journey

I’ve been with Ansys for 21 years. I began working with Fluent in 1999 as an engineer and had the opportunity to be the first technical member focused on growing the business in India. At that time, Indian customers were adopting the computational fluids dynamics (CFD) simulation and I had a great opportunity to grow with the customers both technically and professionally. After Ansys acquired Fluent and grew with multiple acquisitions, I had the opportunity to lead the technical support team for India, South East Asia and Australia.

Why I Choose Ansys

After I completed my post-graduate doctorate, I wanted to join an organization which provided me an opportunity to apply my knowledge in the field of core engineering. Our culture, people and technology makes me feel privileged to be part of the Ansys team.

My Best Advice

Continue to upgrade your skills and take on a variety of projects to help you to analyze your strengths and weaknesses. Talk to your mentor to share your thoughts and learn from their experiences. Explore various career paths and set a career goal.

Last but not the least, always take breaks and spend time with family to clear your mind and don’t overexert yourself.

Getting Involved

I am part of the Women in Technology (WIT) employee resource group (ERG) within Ansys. As the WIT leader in India, I connect with other talented women employees in India and many leaders across the organization. Through the WIT program, we have organized many talks about leadership and student outreach programs.

Creating a Culture of Inclusion

ERG initiatives are aligned toward the organizational values and provide a platform for people with similar interests to come together and share their challenges and opportunities. These groups bring together the voices of employees from different corners of the organization to create one, strong employee voice that ensures inclusion throughout the organization.

In addition, ERGs provide a great platform for members to build their leadership skills, connect with colleagues beyond their own departments, provide the opportunity to work on something beyond their day-to-day work and exchange ideas.
