Overview
In this workshop, we will model an open hole tension test on a composite laminate and demonstrate the use of material stiffness degradation to capture damage evolution.

Progressive Damage in Composites
Learning Outcome
Following completion of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Understand the Ansys Workbench workflow to simulate the progression of composite failure.
- Define the material model which accounts for damage initiation and damage progression.
- Run the nonlinear simulation with material damage progression.
- Postprocess the simulation results at different time steps by means of damage status and damage type to assess damage evolution.
- Use the Composite Failure tool to assess the remaining safety factors after damage occurs.
