ANSYS for Electronic Transformer Simulations

Overview

The Transformers Class is an application oriented training, describing how to use the different tools ANSYS offers to perform analysis and simulation of electronics transformers.

In particular the training shows the capabilities of ANSYS PExprt and ANSYS Maxwell to easily realize transformers electromagnetic simulations, starting from geometry creation and arriving to more advanced analysis. On an upper level of complexity, electromagnetic system study is described integrating the models into ANSYS Simplorer. Finally, in the workshops it is possible to go through a complete design analysis, performing coupling with ANSYS Mechanical for static thermal analysis and with ANSYS Icepak for more complex fluid dynamic studies aimed to simulate electromagnetic devices cooling performances.

The described procedure can be used to verify product performance and integrity from the concept phase through the various product design and development phases.

The use of ANSYS Simulation tools accelerates product development by providing rapid feedback on multiple design scenarios, which reduces the need for multiple prototypes and product testing iterations.

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of Maxwell Basic, Simplorer Basic and PExprt is essential.
  • Knowledge of Ansys mechanical (due to the thermal coupling) would be beneficial.

Target Audience: Engineers and Designers

Teaching Method: Lectures and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge. A training certificate is provided to all attendees who complete the course.
