Finite Element Analysis Model in Automotive Shifter Design

FEA proves to be an extremely useful in the design of shifters. A finite element model for our shifter assembly was setup with reference of our corporate shifter test standards. The assembly model took account of the main components. It can represent the real test scenarios. The forces between components were properly transferred in the assembly model. Such a model can offer a great capacity for design engineers to evaluate concept designs, investigating the various performances and features of each component and the whole shifters. Totally, three concept designs were evaluated with the assembly FEA model. Such a model can save a lot of real tests, greatly reducing the design costs and tremendously speed up our design cycle. ANSYS is proved to be a very efficient way to help design better products.
