How Industrial IoT is Being Reshaped by 5G, AI, Edge, Cloud, and HPC
The idea of using technology to assist the transition to the 'next normal' was accelerated by the recent pandemic and is a compelling opportunity for technology leadership — and in particular the CTO. Industrial IoT (IIoT) proved to be crucial for navigating the crisis. Many IoT use cases boomed over the past 18 months as the focus on building digital twins, contactless operations, and digital simulation increased dramatically. In line with this, IDC expects global IoT spend to reach $773 billion in 2021, growing at a rate of 12%. New emerging technologies, including edge computing, AI, and 5G will drive the next wave of growth.
IDC moderated a Tech Executives Roundtable sponsored by Ansys, consisting of nine world class tech leaders in the high-tech space to discuss how to create the industrial IoT road map for the future.
Watch the video below for candid impressions of the roundtable from IDC's Phil Carter, Group Vice President, European Chief Analyst and WW C-Suite Tech Research Lead; and Prith Banerjee, Ansys CTO. You can download an executive summary of the roundtable to the right.
