ANSYS Explicit Dynamics solutions are used to simulate complex and highly nonlinear mechanical and fluid/structure interaction problems. Its approach to material modeling is quite different from the approach that a typical structural analysis takes. In addition to the deviatoric deformation of materials, volume change and material failure are also considered in material modelling. Furthermore, numerical technique such as erosion is used to automatically remove distorted elements before solution is interrupted.
