In the recent past, Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Electric Vehicle (EV) are becoming more popular and the battery has become an important source of energy storage system. There are various factors which has accelerated research in battery development, like increase in gasoline prices, stringent environment norms, and exhausting fossils fuel. Major automakers have already started or outlined their plan for electrification.
 
The lithium ion batteries are preferred for HEV and EV for their high energy density and low self-discharge rate. However, the performance of lithium ion battery is very sensitive to temperature, which can impact the performance and life of battery.
