Ansys Fluent
Aeroacoustics Modeling

Course Overview

In this course you will learn the fundamental concepts and methods for modeling aeroacoustics problems using Ansys Fluent.  The course focuses on understanding the physics of aeroacoustics and the proper selection of modeling techniques to successfully predict acoustic phenomena using computational fluid dynamics. The best practices for selecting and using the correct computational domain, mesh, model settings, solution process, and post-processing tools are discussed in depth. The workshop material will also help you to understand the applications, advantages and disadvantages of the range of modeling approaches.  This course is designed for existing users of Ansys Fluent.

Prerequisites

  • A technical education and background is recommended but an engineering degree is not required.
  • Completion of the Introduction to Ansys Fluent course is required.
  • Experience with Ansys Fluent is strongly recommended.

Target Audience

Mechanical engineers, aerodynamics engineers, acoustics engineers, CFD analysts, and any Ansys Fluent user who will perform aeroacoustics simulations with Ansys Fluent.

Teaching Method

Lectures and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge. A training certificate is provided to all attendees who complete the course.

Learning Outcome

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to

  • List four classes of aeroacoustics modeling methods that can be used with CFD simulation to predict sound levels
  • Select an appropriate aeroacoustics model in Fluent and predict noise levels for a problem of interest
  • Save acoustic data at prescribed locations for further spectral analysis
  • Use Fluent’s acoustic post-processing tools to perform spectral analyses of acoustics signals
