Aerodynamic Simulation for Breakthrough Energy Innovation
Whether for cars, trucks, aircraft, or wind turbines, aerodynamics is a critical aspect of improving energy efficiency. Aerodynamics is a complex science — calculations need to be performed with a high degree of precision and accuracy, since every 1 percent of change in aerodynamic drag or lift has enormous implications on machine performance. Aerodynamic simulation, therefore, requires accurate flow solvers, comprehensive turbulence models, and precise geometry handling.
In this 60-minute Webinar, Dr. Florian Menter, a world-renowned turbulence modeling expert, will present Stress-Blended Eddy Simulation (SBES) — a new paradigm in hybrid RANS-LES modeling — with a focus on aerodynamics and other applications. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is impractically expensive in the near-wall region. However, Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) models are well-suited for wall boundary layers. Therefore, hybrid models such as SBES that use RANS for the wall boundary layers and LES away from the walls provide the best accuracy for practical turbulent flow simulations. The SBES blending function clearly shows the zones of RANS and LES usage. The SBES methods presented in this Webinar are now commercially available for aerodynamics and other complex flows.
Thermal Optimization for Energy Efficiency
Nearly everything has an optimal operating temperature and thermal condition.Millions of dollars each year are spent generating and transporting thermal energy to achieve thermal goals. Thermal optimization not only improves the economy of transporting energy, maintaining building temperatures, manufacturing processes and products, it improves their efficiency as well. Engineers use simulation to reveal detailed pictures of thermal processes, providing a deep understanding of all aspects of thermal management.
Join our experts for this webinar to learn how you can capture thermal processes in powerful simulations, seamlessly identify multiphysics interactions that impact performance, and quickly achieve thermal optimization using integrated design optimization tools.
Composite Lightweighting with Confidence
Presenter: Richard Mitchell, Lead Product Marketing Manager for Structures, ANSYS Inc.
Composites provide new solutions for manufacturers looking for stronger, lighter and more cost-effective materials. At the same time, they pose new modeling and manufacturing challenges due to curing, springback and residual stresses. With the right simulation tools, designers can account for residual stresses, predict performance, analyze reliability and potential failures, optimize construction and export accurate information to manufacturing, all before a physical prototype is built. This webinar demonstrates how ANSYS simulation tools can help you engineer lighter, better and higher performing composites using simulation.
