Optical simulation includes not only visible wavelengths, but also UV and IR wavelengths. Using the Ansys high-frequency (HF) solution, optical simulation can be extended to electromagnetics simulation, which is very important in evaluating, for example, the signal transfer function of mobile healthcare applications. The capability to incorporate different sensor types simplifies colorimetric analysis for developing virtual tests that detect bacteria concentrations, and for simulating early-stage cancer detection devices that analyze the spectral transmission of cells. Using IR wavelengths exposes deeper layers of skin, while electromagnetic wave propagation helps simulate technologies like MRI scanners.
