Formula Student Virtual Event 2020 — the digital edition of the Formula Student Workshop — is organized by Ansys and CADFEM in cooperation with OTH Amberg-Weiden. The physical event has been offered annually in Germany since 2008.

The event brings together Formula Student teams hailing from numerous universities across Europe. Dynamic virtual workshops and presentations will help prepare your team to handle a variety of challenging simulation tasks.

Event tracks include:

  • Autonomous
  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Discovery - Simulation for Designers
  • Electromagnetics & Systems Simulation
  • Finite element method (FEM)

This event also delivers a cutting-edge platform that enables you to network and share knowledge with our experts and your peers.

We look forward to meeting you online!

Use driving simulation to virtually validate and verify the three major categories of your autonomous vehicle’s operation: perception, planning and execution. Test your sensor architecture by simulating sensor signals. Optimize your autonomous vehicle’s safe working domain through validation of edge-case scenarios.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Learn how to use Ansys Fluent CFD simulations — including meshing, calculation and result evaluation — to evaluate vehicle aerodynamics and eliminate drag. CFD can be applied to understand flow around the entire vehicle, including the radiator, as well as underbody flow.

Discovery — Simulation for Designers

Model-Explore-Refine: The all-new Ansys Discovery walks you through every simulation step, from geometry modeling to design check and validation in one application. The interactive simulation software updates the physics of the simulation instantly as you modify the geometry or operating parameters, so you can optimize your design faster.

Finite Element Method (FEM)

Learning by Doing: Get hands-on with Ansys Mechanical to learn how to prepare structural models for robust simulation results. Topics include understanding loads, boundary conditions and connections.

Electromagnetics & Systems

Learn how to:

  • Design motors using Ansys Maxwell.
  • Simulate power electronics in Ansys Simplorer.
  • Understand and correct EMC problems in power electronics.
