Cray and ANSYS Give Aircraft Takeoffs a Big Lift

Cray and ANSYS tackled the high-lift simulation challenge, working together on two high-lift prediction test cases developed by the AIAA CFD High Lift Prediction Workshop (HiLiftPW). The computational results — made possible by Cray XC supercomputing power and obtained with ANSYS Fluent — showed excellent performance: a 189-million-cell simulation completed in under two hours.

Establishing the Design Space of a Sparged Bioreactor on Microsoft Azure

Bioreactors are the heart of many pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. One goal of a bioreactor is to operate at process conditions that provide sufficient oxygen to suspended cells. The pharmaceuticals industry has adopted CFD modeling as a cost-saving option to characterize the inter-dependencies between tank design and process operating conditions. However, the simulation time and compute resources required can be quite extensive.
