ANSYS Vista TF

ANSYS Vista TF technology is designed to further broaden the range of turbomachinery geometry design and analysis tools from ANSYS. Developed by PCA Engineers Limited, an international consultancy specializing in turbomachinery design software for many of the world's leading turbo manufacturers, ANSYS Vista TF is integrated into the ANSYS Workbench platform for powerful and quick turbomachinery design and analysis.

As a 2-D throughflow solver, ANSYS Vista TF provides rapid initial analysis of rotating machinery before proceeding to more rigorous and detailed 3-D fluid flow simulations. Performing initial design iterations using the ANSYS Vista TF 2-D throughflow solver can reduce the total product design and development time and maximize the efficiency of engineering simulation.

As a strong complement to powerful high-fidelity ANSYS CFD software, ANSYS Vista TF provides rapid preliminary optimization of turbomachinery designs on the basis of throughflow analysis. This process takes initial rotating machinery designs (for example, from meanline software codes) and uses an inviscid 2-D approach to predict their performance. The 2-D solution is based on circumferentially averaged equations of motion. Included in the inviscid solution are empirical data to account for effects such as frictional losses, boundary layer displacement and flow deviation from the blade. The throughflow code solves in a matter of seconds for multi-stage machines, allowing many initial designs to be screened and poor designs to be filtered out before proceeding to full 3-D viscous flow analysis with ANSYS CFD. The 3-D CFD solution then can be used for final design analysis and more accurate performance prediction, particularly at off-design conditions and taking into account effects not included in the throughflow analysis, such as clearance flows.
