ANSYS TurboGrid: Meshing and Mesh Analysis

The mesh topology is generated at one spanwise location only. The mesh distribution and quality can then be visualized and optimized on this 2-D plane. During volume mesh generation, this topology is optimally propagated to the hub and shroud extents.

During the entire meshing process, including topology definition, one-to-one mesh connection is maintained at the periodic faces. Since the topology generation is automated, advanced topologies can be generated which allow for more flexibility of mesh distribution without sacrificing periodic node connectivity.

Element size distribution for meshing is under user control allowing for optimal placement of mesh.

ANSYS TurboGrid immediately provides mesh analysis through 3-D graphics. Analyses include:

Grid regions that exceed predefined mesh quality tolerances are reported and interactively displayed so that the user can identify the location of the problem and adjust the mesh topology accordingly. The graphical display allows you isolate the areas of poor mesh quality with isosurfaces, contours, and legends, to easily locate and improve the problem areas.

Mesh statistics are provided as a quick measure of the quality of the mesh.
