
ANSYS® TAS™ Liquid Cooled Coldplate
The coldplate shown below is an aluminum brazement. RF electronic components are mounted to both sides of the surfaces to the left of the central hole and DC-DC power supplied are mounted to the right side. The red line in the second figure shows the flow path of the coolant.
Coolant enters at the bottom right. It flows to the left side where it performs a serpentine flow path. This is to provide an isothermal mounting surface for the RF electronics. The coolant then flows to the right side to cool the power supplies.
The figure below shows the coolant flow channels in the left side of the cold plate. There is actually aluminum convoluted lanced and offset fin material in the channels to enhance heat transfer. The heat transfer coefficient used includes the effects of the fin material.
The figure below shows temperatures of the coldplate. Notice the isothermal left region of the coldplate.
