ANSYS Rigid Dynamics

The ANSYS Rigid Dynamics product is an ANSYS Workbench add-on module that works directly with ANSYS Structural, ANSYS Mechanical, and ANSYS Multiphysics. Benefits of the ANSYS Rigid Dynamics product are:

  • Extremely fast solution, often measured in seconds for even complex assembly dynamics
  • Configuration option that allows interactive kinematic manipulation of assembly and uncovers incorrect constraints immediately
  • Iterative "what if" simulations possible; realistic manual optimization opportunity due to the very low CPU requirements of an all rigid dynamics solution
  • Converting an all-rigid model to a combined rigid-flexible model takes just a few mouse clicks making model ready to run in minutes

Features

New product designs, by their very nature, are different than existing designs, and quite naturally behave differently. Determining the right geometric arraignment of a grouping of parts is a complex task, but one that can be made easier by using high speed simulation tools like ANSYS Rigid Dynamics. With incredibly short solution times for even complex multi-part assemblies undergoing dramatic translations and rotations, ANSYS Rigid Dynamics can provide design determining insight quickly enough to keep up with even the fastest paced product development team.

Extremely Fast Solution
The solver chosen can be tuned for all out speed or extreme robustness, as the simulation complexity warrants

Configuration Option
Activating the configure option essentially starts the Rigid Dynamic explicit solver up in real time mode and allows active part manipulation, and often the discovery of unexpected behavior that results from an incorrectly constrained assembly

Iterative “What Ifs”
With solution times measured in seconds rather than hours, doing multiple simulations with various model configurations is not only possible, but prudent

Model Conversion
Designed from the ground up to work with flexible dynamics, models developed using ANSYS Rigid Dynamics are easily converted to selectively or completely flexible models that can be solved with implicit solvers
