This is the documentation for the direct interface between Unigraphics and ICEM CFD. As the direct interface is refined and updated, new versions will be incorporated into patch sets that can be installed over the current released version of ICEM CFD. The latest version of ANSYS ICEM CFD includes the latest version of this interface on the install DVD.

Introduction to the Unigraphics Mesher Interface

The ICEM Unigraphics Mesher Interface is the module of ICEM CFD/CAE that allows the user to create input for ICEM CFD meshing modules such as ICEM Tetra or ICEM Hexa from CAD data created in Unigraphics Master Series. In one unified environment, the user can perform model setup and then choose one or more meshing strategies. The interface can also be run in batch mode from ICEM CFD in order to Import Geometry => UG. The interface uses UG libraries and requires UG to be licensed and installed.

Overview

To begin the automatic meshing process, the user must provide information about the space to be meshed. The user must indicate which surfaces and/or solid faces will be used to bound the volume to be meshed. Additionally, the user must specify prescribed curves and points where the surfaces are not smooth. The user can specify element sizes on surfaces, curves, points and volumes.

Once this information is complete, the user can start either ICEM Tetra, ICEM Hexa or ICEM Global.
