TIPS
Tips for Catia V5 ICEMCFD Analysis Workbench
Creating Families automatically from PartBody
- Open a Catia V5 part document (*.CATPart) that contains a valid
PartBody
- Start the ICEM CFD Workbench
-Start -> Analysis & Simulation -> ICEMCFD Analysis
- Create the MeshPart
-select ICEMCFD -> Global Parameters
-select [Select Part to Mesh] button and select the PartBody from the link tree
-select the Run Mesher option
-select OK
- Create the Families automatically and compute the Mesh
-select ICEMCFD -> Compute Mesh
Creating Families using ICEMCFD Polygon selection by Type
- Open a Catia V5 part document (*.CATPart)
- Start the ICEM CFD Workbench
-Start -> Analysis & Simulation -> ICEMCFD Analysis
- Create the MeshPart
-select ICEMCFD -> Global Parameters
-select [Select Part to Mesh] button and select the PartBody
-select the Run Mesher option
-select OK
- Create the Families using ICEMCFD Polygon selection by Type
-select ICEMCFD -> Select Faces by Polygon
-select the PartBody that the objects will be selected from
-create the polygon (double click to close)
-select ICEMCFD -> Define Face Family
-select OK
-select ICEMCFD -> Select Edges by Polygon
-select the PartBody that the objects will be selected from
-create the polygon (double click to close)
-select ICEMCFD -> Define Edge Family
-select OK
-select ICEMCFD -> Select Points by Polygon
-select the PartBody that the objects will be selected from
-create the polygon (double click to close)
-select ICEMCFD -> Define Point Family
-select OK
- Compute the Mesh
-select ICEMCFD -> Compute Mesh
Creating a mesh from Geometry (Open Bodies)
- Open a Catia V5 part document (*.CATPart)
- Start the ICEM CFD Workbench
-Start -> Analysis & Simulation -> ICEMCFD Analysis
- Create the MeshPart
-select ICEMCFD -> Global Parameters
-select [Select Part to Mesh] button and select the "empty" PartBody
-select the Run Mesher option
-turn ON Save ICEMCFD files
-select OK
- Create the Families
-select Edit -> Search -> General: Workbench [Topology] .Type [Face]
-select Search
-select OK
-select ICEMCFD -> Define Face Family
-select OK
-select Edit -> Search -> General: Workbench [Topology] .Type [Edge]
-select Search
-select OK
-select ICEMCFD -> Define Edge Family
-select OK
- Compute the mesh (and save the support files)
-select ICEMCFD -> Compute Mesh
-block up the model and save the Blocking file
-save the Unstructured mesh file
-Quit
-the ICEMCFD support files will be saved
Downward Compatibility Utility in CATIA V5
This utility is used for converting CATPart(s) from a higher version to lower version;
e.g., a CATPart from V5 R11 with an OEM Customer can be converted and provided to an OEM Supplier / Vendor using V5 R10.
- Select "Utility" command from Tools menu
.
- Double-click on Downward Compatibility Utility to open a new GUI for the operation.
- Click Folder icon to Select documents to be converted (multiple documents can be selected for one operation).
- Check "Replace" to overwrite the same CATPart(s) selected above.
- Check "Pointed Documents" to convert any related documents with the CATPart (CATProduct containing this CATPart will be converted; CATDrawing derived and linked to this CATPart will be converted).
(For this facility - Tools > Options > General > General > Load Referenced Documents option should be checked.)
- Select operation "Convert" from given "Convert / Synchronize / Info"
- Select Version to which CATPart should be transformed. (V5R10 to V5R6) available in V5R11.
- Type in path / select by clicking folder icon - the Target Directory in which converted CATPart will be saved!
- Click "Save" to save Parameters file in a Custom Directory. This file keeps a record of every user-setting done at that time and can be used for the same operations on other CATParts.
- Finally click "RUN" to execute the batch process.
