Hardware & Software Requirements
This document is provided as a guideline regarding hardware configurations,
operating system and operating system patches recommended for the use with
CATIA Version 5 Release 16.
- Important Notice on AIX 5.1 Support
CATIA and ENOVIA V5R15 will be the last release to support AIX 5.1.
With standard support for AIX V5.1 ending on April 1, 2006, support for AIX
V5.1 will end with V5R15 to allow a consistent level of maintenance and
service on subsequent CATIA and ENOVIA releases.
Customers currently running CATIA and ENOVIA on AIX V5.1 are encouraged
to migrate to AIX 5.3 as the End of Support for AIX 5.2 is Sept 1, 2007.
All Platforms
Recommended Memory
- 256 MB of RAM is the minimum recommended amount of memory for all
applications. 512 MB of RAM is recommended for DMU applications on large
assemblies, and for the Digitized Shape Editor 2 product. Requirements may be
greater when large amount of data are used.
Windows 2000 / Windows XP
Operating System
- Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4, or higher is required, or
Windows XP Professional SP1 or SP2, with following components:
- Windows 2000, and Windows XP deliver an implementation of OpenGL
libraries. Dassault Systemes will provide recommendations related to driver levels
based on certified configurations at URL:
http://www.3ds.com/implementation/technology/windows/certified-workstations-list/. These drivers may offer
a CATIA Version 5 application setting (see Control Panel, Display
Properties tabs), which should be selected when available, as they may
contain application specific features.
- Localized version of the operating system may be required when selected
installation locale differs from Latin1
- Note : Version 5 Release 17 will be the last release to support
Windows 2000 Professional Edition
Windows 64-bit
Operating System
- Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, with following components:
- Windows XP Professional x64 Edition delivers an implementation of
OpenGL libraries. Dassault Systemes will provide recommendations related to
driver levels based on certified configurations at URL:
http://www.3ds.com/implementation/technology/windows/certified-workstations-list/.
These drivers may offer a CATIA Version 5 application setting (see Control
Panel, Display Properties tabs), which should be selected when available,
as they may contain application specific features.
32-bit CATIA V5
- Although those Version 5 product are 32-bit applications, they will be
able to allocate up to 4GB of Memory when running on this operating system.
64-bit CATIA V5
32 and 64-bit CATIA V5 Certified configurations

be included
- IY54657: FCLEAR() ON JFS2 MAY CAUSE CORRUPTION
- IY56839: SYSTEM BOOT HANGS WHEN BOOT IMAGE EXCEEDS 12M 04/06/10 PTF
PECHANGE
-
In addition to those
recommendations, the following list of patches are required to support GXT
Graphic adapters :

-
For 64bit application support, the following motif patches are required
for the Ctrl key to work properly :
- Note : under AIX 5.2 with xlC.aix50.rte filesets at level 6.0.0.13
or higher, orbix command ( lsit, putit,chmodit,..) may result in a "Memory
fault (coredump)" message. If you encounter this problem and to correct this,
you must install APAR IY65658. Installation of the IY65658 APAR requires also
the IY58421 APAR to be installed. Applying this APAR will result in the
xlC.aix50.rte fileset being at the 7.0.0.3 level.
