CATIA Operating System Requirements

This document is provided as a guideline regarding hardware configurations, operating system and operating system patches recommended for the use with CATIA Version 5 Release 14.

All Platforms

Recommended Memory

256 MB or RAM is the minimum recommended amount of memory for all applications. 512 MB of RAM is recommended for DMU applications on large assemblies, and for the Digitized Shape Editor 2 product. Requirements may be greater when large amount of data are used.

Windows 2000 / Windows XP

Operating System

Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2, or higher, required, or Windows XP Professional, with following components:
- Windows 2000, and Windows XP deliver an implementation of OpenGL libraries; these libraries may be updated depending on selected graphic adapter when installing the graphic adapter and associated drivers. Dassault Systemes will provide recommendations related to driver levels based on certified configurations at URL: http://www.catia.com/your_catia/html/hwnt2.htm. These drivers may offer a CATIA Version 5 application setting (see Control Panel, Display Properties tabs), which should be selected when available, as they may contain application specific features.
- Localized version of the operating system may be required when selected installation locale differs from Latin1

Note that configurations are certified with Windows 2000 or Windows XP : they are explicitly marked as such in the list of certified configuration.

Derived configurations

In addition to certified configurations, configurations indicated as Derived at URL http://www.catia.com/your_catia/html/hwnt2.htm , are also supported, although they may not be specifically tested in Dassault Systemes, as they are considered derived from certified configurations. Derived configurations differ from certified configurations with:

a different clock speed
different disk
different network subsystems
different texture memory configurations

when other main subsystems remain unchanged (processor model, chipset and graphic adapter).

IBM AIX

Operating System

AIX 5.1 ML4 (includes OpenGL and GL3.2 for AIX runtime) including:
- CSet++ runtime for AIX 5.0 version 6.0.0.5 (CSet++ runtime is delivered with the operating system)
- XL Fortran Runtime Environment (xlfrte), at level 7.1.1.5
- XL SMP Runtime Library at level 1.3.8

SGI IRIX

Operating System

IRIX 6.5.15m (C, C++ and Fortran runtime environments, at level 7.3.1, are delivered with the operating system as well as OpenGL runtime environment) plus following recommended patches :
- patch 4848 Poor network performance with ef interface on machines with fast cpus
- patch 4815 libexc Update
- VPro graphics adapter requires following patch:
  - patch 4674 VPro graphics limited-release bug fixes for Irix 6.5.15m and Irix 6.5.15f
- In addition, support of Fuel Visual Workstations requires following patch :
  - patch 4695 IP35 6.5.15m PROM/kernel rollup/R14KA support

Onyx 3000 Series with InfinitePerformance Graphics are supported with IRIX 6.5.16m plus following patch:
- patch 4731 VPro updates for 6.5.16
- patch 4848 Poor network performance with ef interface on machines with fast cpus
- patch 4815 libexc Update
Support of Tezro workstation requires IRIX 6.5.21m with following patch:
- patch 5322 Non-C99 Catia patch for libc.so 6.5.21m
- patch 5330 IP35 kernel/PROM fixes for IRIX 6.5.21m

SUN Solaris

Operating System

Solaris 8 HW 02/02 minimum (includes C and C++ runtime environments; Fortran runtime environment is delivered with CATIA V5), with OpenGL 1.2.3 with following recommended packages and patches.

Notes :

Elite3D M3 graphic adapter is not supported on Ultra10 except on Ultra10/440 MHz.
