ANSYS ICEM CFD™ CAD Integration

ICEM CFD's Direct CAD Interfaces link the parametric geometry creation tools from major CAD systems directly with the mesh generation, mesh optimization, and post-processing modules available in ANSYS ICEM CFD. The direct cad intefaces provide higher quality geometry for mesh generation. They also are parametric enabling the user to update the Mesh when the geometry parameters change.

Common CAD interface licensing and development means that you can use you interface with any of the ANSYS tools such as Design Modeler, Simulation or CFX.

There are several different paths from CATIA to ANSYS ICEM CFD

CATIA V4 Interface - The CATIA V4 interface allows the user to setup and export the model directly from CATIA v4 to ANSYS ICEM CFD. Also, you can read CATIA V4 files directly with all ANSYS products, including ANSYS ICEM CFD.

For CATIA V5, There are direct readers available with ANSYS workbench.

ANSYS ICEM CFD CAA Hexa V5 is ICEM CFD HEXA imbedded directly within CATIA V5 under Anaylysis and Simulation. This product is much more than an interface. The generated blocking and mesh are stored within CATAnalysis and can be updated parametrically as changes are made to the model. CatiaV5 CAA HEXA Technotes

Pro/ENGINEER Interface - The PRO/E interface directly links the PRO/E CAD system to the ANSYS ICEM CFD meshing tools. 

SDRC I-DEAS Interface - The I-DEAS interface directly links the SDRC I-DEAS CAD system to the ANSYS ICEM CFD meshing tools.

We also recommend using the Viewer XML (IDI) export from I-DEAS. Our IDI reader uses the SDRC I-DEAS interface License and reads IDI files directly. As an added bonus, IDI export from I-DEAS is much cleaner than IGES and exports in about 100 times faster for most complex assemblies.

SolidWorks Interface - The SolidWorks interface directly links the SolidWorks  CAD system to the ANSYS ICEM CFD meshing tools.

Unigraphics Interface - The UG interface directly links the UG CAD system to the ANSYS ICEM CFD meshing tools.
