Automatic Board and Air Meshing

The board and air are automatically and independently meshed for optimum solution of each domain and optimum solution speed.  The board is solved with ANSYS' fast and accurate TAS solver. The air side of the problem is solved with our new Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver.  

The board is meshed using the two-dimensional automesher found in our TAS software.  A typical board mesh is shown below.  The meshing ensures that element lie exactly under the board of all components, the exact board shape is represented, holes and cutouts are exactly represented and all other features are represented.  Internal algorithms ensures that an accurate mesh is developed.  If you want though you can take control.

The board can be represented two or three-dimensionally.  When represented three-dimensionally, dielectric layers are represented with 3D elements as shown below.

Conducting layers are represented with two-dimensional elements as shown below.  Shown are six conducting layers.
