A wide range of materials can take part in process industry flow calculation. The ANSYS CFX software has a large database of physical properties of common materials, any of which are easily loaded into a simulation.
It is also simple to set the relevant physical properties of any material not in this database. Materials can be set up for use in the software with properties of different levels of complexity. At the simplest level, this could be a liquid with constant density and specific heat capacity, and may range through ideal gases with specific heat capacities given by NASA polynomials to real gases with thermodynamic properties given by tables.
Whatever type of material is chosen, it is always possible to set individual physical properties to be variable using the CFX Expression Language.
