Exhaust systems design has become an issue for most automotive manufacturers worldwide as local regulations determine the necessary emissions controls. Meeting these regulations and providing quiet and durable systems is a goal for most suppliers. Software from ANSYS delivers the ability to model heat transfer as well as flow through the exhaust system. The exhaust system, including the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter, can be modeled using technology from ANSYS. Advanced meshing tools are able to accommodate this complex geometry. Predictions using ANSYS CFX software can contribute to design modifications of cooling passages and heat shielding to limit temperatures and increase durability. |
