CATIA V5 plug-in

ICEM CFD Hexa CAA V5: Hexahedral Volume Meshing within CATIA V5
Version 3.2 - Hexa Analysis & Block Builder

ICEM CFD Hexa CAA V5 Based for CATIA V5 provides the CATIA user semiautomatic hexahedral volume meshes, associative with the CATIA V5 Design data and plugged in to the CATIA V5 Analysis Infrastructure.

ICEM CFD Hexa is based on a global block topology and provides a top-down approach to mesh generation. ICEM CFD Hexa is a semi-automated meshing module and provides rapid generation of multi-block structured or unstructured hexahedral volume meshes. ICEM CFD Hexa represents a new approach to mesh generation where the operations most often performed by experts are automated and made available at the touch of a button. Blocks can be interactively adjusted to the underlying CAD geometry. Body fitted internal or external O-Grids can be generated by the system automatically. The mesh is projected onto the underlying CAD geometry automatically.

In ICEM CFD Hexa CAA V5 Based, the meshing specifications as well as the resulting mesh are stored within CATIA V5 Analysis document. Changes in the CATIA V5 model for a given topology are reflected quickly in the updated mesh, which is regenerated automatically, based on the stored mesh set-up data.
The target users of ICEM CFD Hexa CAA V5 Based are CFD and FEA engineers using CATIA V5 in the automotive, aerospace, process and electronic industries, who require good quality hexahedral volume meshes for analysis. Stretched configurations, non-linear material behavior, reduced mesh counts and demands for high accuracy are the driving forces for hexahedral meshes provided by ICEM CFD Hexa.

ANSYS ICEM CFD Hexa CAA V5 is a plug-in application for CATIA V5. This application contains two workbenches to CATIA V5. The first workbench is ICEMCFD Block Builder and is located under the Shape menu. The Block Builder workbench provides user interface for block structure set up for ICEM CFD Hexa mesher including association of block structure to geometry and works within CATPart document. The second workbench is ICEMCFD Hexa Analysis and is located under the Analysis & Simulation menu. ICEM CFD Hexa Analysis workbench creates a Hexahedral mesh in an analysis document based on the block structure and associated geometry information from the linked CATPart. The resulting Hexahedral mesh is stored as CATIA V5 nodes and elements, which is fully accessible within CATIA V5 and CAA V5 tools.

Hexa Mesh (without OGRID)

All the advanced Hexa tools apear within the CATIAV5 interface. The user has the option of staying within the CATIAV5 interface, or performing the blocking with the ANSYS ICEM CFD Hexa interface.

Either way, the blocking is automatically linked to the CATPart for further parametric updates.

You can apply mateiral properties, loads, constraints, etc. directly on the geometry. This information is sorted parametrically along with the mesh.

The Hexa Mesh is stored in the CATAnalysis document for Analysis by GPS, Fluent or other CATIA V5 integrated solvers. Once solved, various CATIAV5 tools can be used to visualize the soltuion. You can even create animations, etc.

Optimization software can parametrically modify the model and rerun the solver.

It is our great pleasure to announce the formal release of ANSYS ICEM CFD Hexa CAA V5 for CATIA V5 version 3.2 (HexaCAAV5).

Version 3.2 contains the addition of external Blocking file linking, Replay file linking, and Body Fitted Cartesians.
