ANSYS DesignXplorer™

A little more than a decade ago, numerous CAD systems introduced designers to the concept of 3D parametric design. Using this modeling technique, designers are able to rapidly alter dimensions to create new product designs congigurations.

Working in conjunction with DesignSpace, for the first time, DesignXlorer will allow designers to perform real time simulations and carry out quick "what-if"studies to explore various design options. These simulation studies will be done at the speed (almost instantaneously) of CAD systems changing design parameters and updating 3D models. This process change (designers doing real time simulation early in the process) will allow customers to use simulation as a decision making tool in the product development process rather than a technical application for after-the-fact validation of field failure.

DesignXplorer's three-dimensional chart navigator provides instantaneous
response feedback via an interactive 3D response surface.

DesignXplorer allows you to study, quantify and graph various structural and thermal simulation responses of your design in 2D and 3D space. Furthermore, it incorporates both traditional and nontraditional optimization through a goal-driven method. This allows to optimize 3D designs for multiple objective functions.

Benefits

  1. Reduced time to market - software prototyping is much faster than hardware testing.
  2. Improved product performance & quality - up-front simulations let you identify critical trade-offs between design parameters and optimize those relationships. Required design changes can be made early in the design process.
  3. Rapid and better design decisions - by exploring and validating multiple design concepts. You can modify, refine and test your designs virtually.
  4. Reduced material cost - significant portion of revenues goes to material cost. Through up-front simulations, material saving of few percent can translate to significant savings.
  5. Reduced overall product development costs - through virtual validation and material savings.
  6. Improved customer satisfaction - through better quality products.
  7. Increased market size, market share and margin on sales.
