ANSYS ASAS is increasingly used for assessing Offshore Wind Turbines subjected to wave/current/wind loading. This simulation shows one of the flap-wise eigenmodes as a result of the coupled wave-structure loading calculated in ASAS while the wind/rotor blade loading is calculated in the specialized wind turbine software package called Flex5. In this way, the simplified foundation (in Flex5) is replaced by a realistic structural model (in ANSYS ASAS) that can accurately model the foundation structural behavior and wave loading as well as soil-pile interaction.
