Ask the Expert - Understanding the New Linear Perturbation Method for Pre-Stressed Modal Analysis in ANSYS Mechanical 13.0
Modal analyses are used to determine the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a structure. That information is critical to understanding behavior under dynamic loading. Modal analyses also required as precursors for other linear dynamic analyses, such as, response spectrum, random vibration, mode-superposition harmonic, and mode-superposition transient. To accurately determine the natural frequencies and mode shapes, it is often necessary to account for nonlinear preload effects such as changing shape or contact status. Before ANSYS 13.0, it was difficult to include nonlinear preload effects in a subsequent linear dynamic analysis. It required partial solutions and hands-on file management. The new linear perturbation method introduced in ANSYS Mechanical 13.0 automates and greatly simplifies the process for modal analyses. This webinar will help explain the capabilities and applications of the new linear perturbation method. It will begin with a short presentation. After the presentation, a panel of experts from the ANSYS development and technical services groups will answer questions live via WebEx.
