Because of the environmental impact, tail pipe emissions from automotive vehicles, trucks and construction equipment are a big concern for engine manufacturers today. For diesel engines especially, the EPA2015 and Euro6 regulations have cut down permissible limits for NOx and soot. These regulations have forced engine manufacturers to look beyond upfront reduction of NOx and soot at source and adopt aftertreatment solutions like selective catalytic reduction and diesel particulate filters.
