Pre-Processor : Meshing for ANSYS CFX

ANSYS meshing technology is coupled closely to the geometry representation and can quickly create high-quality meshes on complex geometries. The ANSYS Workbench-based meshing application gives access to the advancing front with inflation (AFI) meshing technology. This grid generation software tool provides meshes that accurately capture important boundary layer details. The tetrahedral portion of the meshing process is fully parallelized, allowing for quick creation of the very large meshes demanded by today's applications. The meshing application also gives access to a swept meshing capability, as well as patch-independent meshing.

Also part of the ANSYS family of products, you can choose ANSYS ICEM CFD software as your meshing solution for ANSYS CFX. Offering unsurpassed robustness, the world-renowned meshing technology contained in ANSYS ICEM CFD provides a suite of tools to create unstructured or structured meshes appropriate for use in ANSYS CFX.

The generalized grid interface (GGI) capability within the software significantly enhances the ANSYS CFX product’s geometric flexibility. GGI makes it possible to independently generate a set of meshes for different sections of a problem using any tools or mesh structure within each component. The individual grids can then be combined in a single model.

Accurate solutions at minimum computational cost are ensured with automatic grid adaption technology within ANSYS CFX software. This technology dynamically redistributes and refines the grid so that it is concentrated in those regions where it is most needed. ANSYS CFX can adapt all types of mesh elements, including tetrahedra, hexahedra, pyramids and prisms.

"We made use of ANSYS CFX software's generalized grid interface ability, using compound grids of two or more grids stitched together with non matching grid interfaces."
