Complex chemistry effects play a predominant role in practical turbulent combustion applications, in for example auto-ignition, flame lift-off and pollutants formation. Advanced turbulent combustion models can account for these effects by providing an adequate coupling between the fluid dynamics and the chemical reactions. The most commonly used manner to include such effects in CFD is to pre-compute the chemistry using detailed reaction mechanisms and to store the data in a multi-dimensional look-up table. Dacolt combustion tools are specifically designed for this purpose and can be customized for various turbulent combustion models.
