Reducing Physical Prototyping with Simulation-led Electric Drive Development

Electric drive design sees many challenging requirements across different physics, such as achieving high power density and efficiency while maintaining thermal and structural reliability and meeting EMI/EMC standards. Low-cost design drives miniaturization and the use of cheaper materials.

Due to these increasingly complex requirements and competitive pressure on development time, developers often resort to increased physical prototyping. It's not uncommon to see over 70% of product development costs spent on test-fix-fail-repeat processes. Simulation-led design can significantly reduce reliance on physical prototyping and significantly reduce development time, cost, and risks.

We'll demonstrate how several key design challenges commonly seen in electric drive development are resolved with upfront simulation. Design changes can be considered earlier in the development process, reducing the need for re-design at later stages.
